Dr Julia Higgins – Chiropractor
Julia was born and raised on a small farm in Gippsland Victoria. After finishing her schooling in Sale, she went on to complete her Bachelor of Applied Science (Clinical) and Bachelor of Chiropractic Science at RMIT University in Melbourne in 1997.
Julia worked in both Melbourne and Bacchus Marsh before purchasing a clinic in Ballarat in 1999. Julia has grown and developed the Ballarat Integrated Health Centre into a busy and respected clinic in the 20 years of her ownership. She continues to work in the Ballarat practice as well as locally in Bacchus Marsh.
Julia and her husband Stace have two sons, Thomas and Cameron. Julia has enjoyed playing in the Bacchus Marsh tennis and basketball associations and completed her first 1/2 marathon in 2019.
Julia is available all day Monday, Wednesday morning & 1 x Saturday morning per month.
Dr Jessica Mibus – Chiropractor
Jess is originally from the Western District, having grown up on the family farm west of Portland. After completing her schooling, she went on to spend a year in England working as a volunteer.
Returning to Australia, Jess attended RMIT University in Melbourne and graduating in 2008 with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Complementary Medicine- Chiropractic) and a Masters in Clinical Chiropractic. She has since divided her time between her young family and working in the Ballarat Practice.
Jess and her husband Jon have three daughters, Lorelei, Philippa & Tabitha. Jess enjoys time in the kitchen (despite the little helpers), still manages to find time for the occasional book and enjoys downtime by being crafty.
Jess is available all day Tuesday, Friday afternoon & one Saturday morning per month.
Dr Laura Keating – Chiropractor
Laura graduated with distinction from her Bachelor of Health Science and Masters Degrees in Clinical Chiropractic from RMIT University in Melbourne. She has worked alongside Dr Julia Higgins & Dr Jess Mibus at the Ballarat Integrated Health Clinic for 2 years, and has now become a Bacchus Marsh local.
She has previously worked as an AFL sports trainer, and is currently undertaking a similar role working with the Bacchus Marsh Lions in the Country Basketball League. She has a particular interest in sports injury management & rehabilitation, and neuro-development of children. She adopts a holistic approach to treatment and includes a variety of techniques including Chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy & dry needling, also addressing nutrition and lifestyle factors.
Every other weekend she helps teach other health practitioners the skills required for dry needling at courses in Melbourne.
She and her husband Josh are expecting their first child in November.
Laura is available Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday & one Saturday morning per month.
Dr Verity Mercieca – Chiropractor
Verity grew up in Bacchus Marsh and had a very active childhood which introduced her to chiropractic care at a young age.
She developed an interest in the benefits of this type of health management, which led her to study and recently complete her Bachelor of Health Science and Bachelor of Applied Science (Chiropractic) at RMIT University in Bundoora. In her spare time she plays tennis at the Bacchus Marsh Lawn Tennis Club, enjoys cooking, hiking, playing her saxophone and hanging out with her cat Alvin. With sports training (football, netball & basketball) and dry needling experience, she has a passion for holistic chiropractic care.
Verity works Monday afternoon, Friday morning & one Saturday morning per month.
Steve Guy – Myotherapist
Steve graduated from the Australian college of Sports Therapy in 2009 with an Advanced Diploma in Remedial Massage (Myotherapy). Since then he has worked for the Victorian Bushrangers Cricket team, the Darley Football Club and privately in Ballarat.
Steve specializes in remedial massage, pregnancy massage, corrective exercise, dry needling and cupping as well as routine maintenance massage. Steve completed his specialized training in Oncology Massage in 2018.
In Steve’s spare time he is a keen gardener, enjoys playing basketball and tennis, and has enjoyed visiting Europe with his wife Sarah. Steve and Sarah had the joy of welcoming their first baby in November 2017, a little boy named Ethan.
Steve is available all day Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Rhiana Noack – Remedial Massage Therapist
Rhianna joined Steve Guy in May 2021 as our new Remedial Massage therapist. She is newly qualified and loves what she does! Her aim is to make all her clients feel comfortable and welcome. We are really happy to be welcoming her to our team in 2021 and she has proven to be very popular with clients.
