Dr Julia Higgins – Chiropractor
Julia was born and raised on a small farm in Gippsland Victoria. After finishing her schooling in Sale, she went on to complete her Bachelor of Applied Science (Clinical) and Bachelor of Chiropractic Science at RMIT University in Melbourne in 1997.
Julia worked in both Melbourne and Bacchus Marsh before purchasing a clinic in Ballarat in 1999. Julia has grown and developed the Ballarat Integrated Health Centre into a busy and respected clinic in the 18 years of her ownership. She continues to work in the Ballarat practice as well as locally in Bacchus Marsh.
Julia and her husband Stace have two sons, Thomas and Cameron. Julia enjoys playing in the Bacchus Marsh tennis and basketball associations, as well as
being involved locally with her kids.
Julia is available Monday and Thursday, and one Saturday a month.
Dr Jessica Mibus – Chiropractor
Jess is originally from the Western District, having grown up on the family farm west of Portland. After completing her schooling, she went on to spend a year in England working as a volunteer.
Returning to Australia, Jess attended RMIT University in Melbourne and graduating in 2008 with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Complementary Medicine- Chiropractic) and a Masters in Clinical Chiropractic. She has since divided her time between her young family and working in the Ballarat Practice.
Jess and her husband Jon have two daughters, Lorelei and Philippa. Jess enjoys time in the kitchen (despite the 2 little helpers), still manages to find time for the occasional book and enjoys downtime by being crafty.
Jess is available in the clinic on Tuesday and Friday, and one Saturday a month.
Dr Laura Keating – Chiropractor
Laura graduated with distinction from her Bachelor of Health Science and Masters Degrees in Clinical Chiropractic from RMIT University in Melbourne. She has worked alongside Dr Julia Higgins & Dr Jess Mibus at the Ballarat Integrated Health Clinic for 2 years, and has recently become a Bacchus Marsh local.
She has previous worked as an AFL sports trainer, and is currently undertaking a similar role working with the Bacchus Marsh Lions in the Country Basketball League. She has a particular interest in sports injury management & rehabilitation, and neuro-development of children. She adopts a holistic approach to treatment and includes a variety of techniques including Chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy & dry needling, also addressing nutrition and lifestyle factors.
Every other weekend she helps teach other health practitioners the skills required for dry needling at courses in Melbourne.
Heather Nijhof N.D. – Masseur
Heather graduated from the Melbourne College of Natural Medicine in 2002 with an Advanced Diploma of Health Science (Naturopathy), a Diploma of Health Science (Herbal Medicine) and a Diploma of Health Science (Nutrition). Heather has extensive experience in deep tissue massage working for herself in clinical practice for over 15 years. Her Naturopathic style combines food as medicine principles with herbal remedies, supplements and other additional techniques to improve the health of many. Heather has two sons, and when not taking them to their multiple sporting tournaments, she enjoys the personal challenge of endurance cycling. Heather is available by appointment only.
Steve Guy – Myotherapist
Steve graduated from the Australian college of Sports Therapy in 2009 with an Advanced Diploma in Remedial Massage (Myotherapy). Since then he has worked for the Victorian Bushrangers Cricket team, the Darley Football Club and privately in Ballarat.
Steve specializes in remedial massage, pregnancy massage, corrective exercise, dry needling and cupping as well as routine maintenance massage. In 2018 Steve will complete his specialized training in Oncology Massage.
In Steve’s spare time he is a keen gardener, enjoys playing basketball and tennis, and has enjoyed visiting Europe with his wife Sarah. Steve and Sarah had the joy of welcoming their first baby in November 2017, a little boy named Ethan.
Steve is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
